Rome offers great opportunities within the exhibition, dominate its panorama big Caravaggio through 140 works from across the world, some unpublished in Italy, the exhibition reconstructs for the first time the connective tissue of the eternal city, where he lived and operated Caravaggio. In the show is taken into consideration what may be termed a crucial moment of Italian painting, which was founded in the late 16th century in Rome still in crisis for the traumatic Lutheran schism and develops, with increasing force, through the reign of four important Popes: Pope Clement VIII Aldobrandini, Paul V Borghese, Boncompagni Gregory XIV, Urban VIII Barberini. This unique moment lasted about forty years, from 1595 to 1635 and the events in that time frame depended much European artistic development that lasted until the end of the seventeenth century. |
